Hagen

Hagen is a dominating and sinister presence in the family saga. He schemes to bring the wealthy hero Siegfried into the family in order to enhance their power and wealth. Intensely jealous of Siegfried’s power, he connives with Uta to trick Siegfried into falling in love with Kriemhild, Hagen’s sister. Hagen then impersonates Gunther and woos Brunhild. Finally he murders Siegfried and absconds with his gold and his magic sword.
