Siegfried and Fafnir

Siegfried is a descendent of Volsungs, reared in the wild by a foster parent but destined to become a great and pure hero who could break the curse of the dwarf-gold. He is told of the dragon Fafnir, and is encouraged to take the golden horde from the dragon. Siegfried is fearless, and slays Fafnir. Because he has been washed in the dragon’s blood, he is now invulnerable and can understand the language of the birds. His future is filled with adventure, peril, and calamity.
